Most Miraculous Night

Soft-surreptitiously, I would enter
From distant land, generations far
This scene on most miraculous night
First Christmas of Good Tidings…

Dim stable unkempt, an earthy
Ambience, animals’ stench
Virgin panting midst hard labor
Uneasy husband at her side, as last
Wrenching pang brings birth-cry
And east-light Star arising high
More brilliant than shepherds e’er
Beheld—joyous angels heralded…

Babe lay in rough trough, humble bed
Swaddled Divinity ~ Prince of Peace ~
Sacrificial destiny ~ High Priest, Lord, our
Kinsman Redeemer…God’s gift to world
Magnanimous love, that beggars, orphans
Slaves, kings—all men, women, in-between—
Could free and equally believe, receive
What hymns would sing Amazing: pure Holy
Grace to cancel sin, save Adam’s fallen race…

Humbled, we gain inheritance, hold anchored
Hope…heirs in-Christ to His abundant life.
Glorious Child, blessed Messiah, Immanuel tells
“God is with us” ~ Savior offers eternal embrace.

View from Paper Bag World

Twittering Tales #115 – 18 December 2018

Safe here

Huddled, cuddled in dark

Unseen arms of God protect

His whisper tells “all’s well”

Whatever little eye can see

In tiny view torn from

Street’s paper bag world

Is more than enough for me

Grounded angels walking by

Leave scattered pieces

Peace-hope-joy

Carol Jesus

Once like me, a boy

Slow the Hurry

In Other Words, hurry…

Mere days ‘fore Christmas

Music, lights, dizzy whirred-blur

Gifts ‘neath tinseled tree

Pageants, hurry, parties planned

Breathe…behold Nativity
